Look up more, that’s my suggestion to you. I was heading into bed before I captured this one.

I was tired and didn’t want to set my gear back up but I knew that this shot was too good to miss. This shot took a lot of trial and error to get right. I had to get everything right, my stance, the position of my arms, where I place myself in the scene and the direction of the torch so that it doesn’t catch the leaves too much and create a hotspot in my frame. To make it even more difficult, it was a 20-second single exposure so I had to stand stiff still while the photo was being taken. It took me about 5 or 6 attempts to get right but I’m glad I persisted.

This shot is one of my favourite Astro shots I’ve taken and I feel it represents a good message and that it is to ‘look up’.
